The Due Diligence (DD) process is conducted for qualified suppliers who are not well known to the buying entity. DD may involve calling the supplier’s referees to ascertain the quality of goods or services the bidder has offered elsewhere and obtaining and testing samples where necessary. DD also involves visiting the suppliers’ premises to ascertain existence of physical business premises, original valid trading licenses among other requirements. This is important so as to ensure that the winning bidders have the necessary approvals and quality in their products. DD also ensures that the suppliers have the capacity to deliver. While QED assists often assists with DD, in most cases, it is necessary to conduct the same in liaison with client’s staff members.
